Kroger Launches Breast Cancer Campaign

Kroger customers can help fight breast cancer on behalf of a special person during Kroger’s autumn breast cancer campaign, which has already begun and will go through the end of October.

Customers may purchase a pink ribbon for $1 at any Kroger register and all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Customers also can help by making a coin box donation to benefit breast cancer awareness and research.

You can donate at the West Bloomfield Krogers on Orchard Lake Road and Haggerty Road.

All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. Located in Detroit, the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute is one of 41 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States.

“Every family in America is touched by breast cancer—whether individuals have relatives or friends afflicted with this life-threatening disease or suffer from the disease themselves,” said Rick Going, president of The Kroger Co. of Michigan, in a statement. “By purchasing a pink ribbon and donating to coin boxes, customers are raising funds for vital research and supporting organizations dedicated to saving lives.”

Kroger teams are also participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk events in Michigan that will benefit the American Cancer Society. Kroger employees will participate at different Walk events in Michigan, including Detroit, Lansing, Howell, Flint, Saginaw and Owosso. As the presenting sponsor of Making Strides in Detroit, the Kroger Michigan Division is encouraging customers to join a Walk in their area. In an effort to raise participation, Kroger has partnered with 100.3 WNIC-FM to encourage the community to join Kroger’s Walk Team.

“The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks present the opportunity for individuals and teams to salute breast cancer survivors, and we hope customers will join Kroger associates as we continue to move forward together in the battle against breast cancer,” Going said.
