A woman has sued Mountain View’s El Camino Hospital, accusing staffers of leaving a piece of a fetal heart monitor inside her abdomen.
Surinderjit Kaur alleges that doctors and nurses were negligent during the routine caesarean section. She’s seeking more than $25,000 in compensation.
Kaur delivered her baby in February 2003. Over the next few months, she began suffering abdominal pains and tests revealed the foreign object inside her.
In February 2004, Kaur underwent a second operation to remove the object.
A hospital spokeswoman said she could not comment on the suit because of patient confidentiality. She also refused to reveal the hospital’s attorney.
