Doctors’ Group Buys Clinical Information System

More than 75 physicians and 85 other caregivers will use TouchWorks to improve care and doctor productivity.

Looking for a way to improve patient care while increasing physician productivity, Resurgens Orthopaedics has purchased an electronic-health-record application by Allscripts Healthcare Solutions.

Resurgens bought Web-based TouchWorks, which is designed to give doctors real-time access to clinical information and to automate repetitive tasks such as prescribing medications, ordering tests and viewing those results, and recording clinic visits. In all cases, the software is replacing manual processes at Resurgens Orthopaedics.

More than 75 physicians and 85 other caregivers will use TouchWorks at the point of care. The companies declined to say how much the deal is worth.

Resurgens, one of the largest orthopedic practices in the nation, says it plans to integrate TouchWorks with the Groupcast practice-management system that it previously bought from IDX Systems Corp.
