Cancer center will offer state-of-the-art services

Sutter Health Network’s plans to rebuild, replace, and expand part of Northern California’s health-care infrastructure have come to Solano County.

Representatives from the health-care company broke ground Thursday for the new Sutter Solano Cancer Center and medical offices in Vallejo. The three-story building is being constructed at the campus of the Sutter Solano Medical Center at 300 Hospital Drive.

When it is finished in September 2005, the $24 million building will offer comprehensive, state-of-the-art cancer services. The cancer center also will offer complementary medicine, clinical trials and chemotherapy suites. Patients will have a cancer resource center and library, support services including genetic counseling and cancer support groups.

The medical offices portion of the center will provide 34,000 square feet of rentable space for physicians.

Environmental features such as water elements and gardens to provide a healing factor for patients are incorporated into the design of the center, which is intended to be a one-stop location for primary and special care.
