Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital will hold Diabetes Education classes from 1:30-4 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 10 and 17, in the Ruth Cole Room on the ground floor of the hospital.
This is a two-part program, so both dates are required for completion.
To register, call (607) 776-8564. The classes are not free, but most insurance plans do cover the cost of attending. A physician referral is required.
Class participants will learn how to define and control their diabetes, with special focus on: blood glucose monitoring, activity guidelines, importance of meal planning, carbohydrate counting, problem solving, self-care principles, medicine therapies and behavioral goal-setting.
Classes are taught by Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital Director of Education Pat Smith, RN, MPS, CDE. The class is open to adults and children.
