A judge has ruled that two Arizona doctors charged with selling a knockoff of the anti-wrinkle drug Botox pose a risk to flee the country and must remain in jail.
U-S Magistrate Lurana Snow denied bail yesterday for Chad Livdahl and Zahra Karim of Tucson, Arizona.
The married couple is accused of selling a fake version of Botox, leading to the temporary paralyzation of a doctor and three patients who were injected at a Broward County clinic.
A federal grand jury has indicted the couple and Doctor Bach McComb, a South Florida osteopath, on 48 counts of conspiracy to defraud the United States, engaging in mail and wire fraud and misbranding a drug.
Prosecutors arguing against bail noted the couple recently removed one (m) million dollars from bank accounts.
